Portals to DFNInternet

The following portals are available for the service DFNInternet:

Operating state

The Customer Network Management (CNM) enables users to view the operating state of X-WiN. The Customer Network Management (CNM) offers a live view of the topology of the IP-platform for X-WiN. CNM also displays the operational state of the links and routers, and detailed data about the prevailing connections of the user’s institution. Additionally, these data are also retrievable for the past.

Quality of Service

The outstanding Quality of Service (QoS) of DFNInternet is an important foundation for several services in the German research and education network. For the DFNInternet service, DFN-Verein strives to meet the following ambitious goals:

  • to keep the one-way delay for IP packets (delay) to less than 1 ms per 100 km of fibre length
  • to keep the jitter of one-way delay for IP packets to less than 0.1 ms per 100 km of fibre length
  • to achieve a packet loss rate of zero.

The Quality of Service portal enables users of DFNInternet to monitor our success in meeting these goals in a transparent and comprehensible way.

Trouble-Ticket-System

For the communication with our users in case of service disruptions, a Trouble Ticket System is available. The TTS allows users to report service disruptions and to track the fault clearance processes. Requests for service are served by our 24/7 help desk.
